It’s time to go! For years I have been yelling that I wanted to go travelling, while not really understanding what travelling is exactly. I’m starting to get an idea. It is an excuse to take time of work without looking unemployed. Instead, you are a “short term pensionado”. It also gives a great excuse if you like to booze and feast with friends and family (“goodbye drinks”). But mostly it’s a great opportunity to leave the lowlands behind for mountains, jungles and other cultures. Now we’re en route to Kathmandu with a transfer in Abu Dhabi, and I’m starting to shit myself, slightly. I’m in no way trained to climb the Nepalese mountains, have learned three words of Hindi (mushy peas, absinthe mixture, or something) and I realise that I can’t lose my personal belongings as often as I do back home. Many people have tried to prepare us for what really is to come when we leave Europe behind, but I guess we’ll just have to see what lies ahead and I’m sure we will be just fine. That is it for now, there’s a glass of Heathrow airport wine in front of me that’s begging to be drunk. And what’s the last meal in Europe? A linguini carbonara. Nice.
That’s it for now, we are finally on our way. We will do our best to use this medium to keep you guys updated with our experiences!
